How to Clean Your Vehicle After a Beach Trip

Beach vacations are meant to be fun and relaxing, right? Then you get home and realize there can’t possibly be any sand left at the beach since there’s so much of it in your car…

With a little bit of planning, you can prevent the beach vacation clean-up nightmare!

Today’s topic is how to clean your vehicle after a beach trip.

Here are 3 simple tips to make cleaning your car a breeze after a beach getaway:

1. Bring Extra Sheets

Thin towels will work too. The idea is to cover all of the surfaces in your vehicle with the sheets before anyone gets in, and before any stuff gets packed away. Instead of the sand falling down into every little crevice it can find, it stays confined on the sheets and never even touches the inside of your car. Once you’ve arrived home, you can easily roll the sheets up, shake the sand out in the yard, and toss the sheets in the laundry.

2. Bring Extra (Garbage) Bags

Transporting beach supplies and toys is a cinch when you have the right bags for the job.  We recommend using heavy duty or extra heavy duty trash bags to transport beach chairs and beach toys. A good double knot will keep everything—sand included—contained. It never hurts to double bag if you’re concerned about punctures.

3. B.Y.O.W. (Bring Your Own Water)

Make sure you have a gallon jug of water easily accessible in your vehicle so you’ll be able to rinse off as much sand as possible before getting in the car. (Plus you can’t count of the availability of rinse-off showers always being nearby.) We also recommend keeping a roll of paper towels or box of wipers in your trunk just in case your beach towel is too wet to dry anything you’ve just rinsed off.

We hope you’ll try these 3 easy tips for an easy beach vacation vehicle clean-up! Do you have any additional tips or tricks for keeping sand under control?
